Sweet Grass of Home

This long horn lives along a wooded road just outside of Tucson. It's an interesting area and not what you would expect to see in the middle of the Sonoran Desert. But driving along Woodland Road with the abundant trees and grassy pastures it's easy to think you're not in Tucson anymore. During the monsoon the grass gets high & green and the animals that live in the pastures appear to be quite comfortable ... at home. I've gotten a lot of inspiration driving along Woodland over the years going on calls with my husband. It's an ideal location for horses as well as cattle, miniature horses, goats, llamas, mules, donkeys, chickens and of course - longhorns. But there is nothing quite as inspirational as the color combinations of this big guy laying in his sweet green grass where he calls home.
Every painting tells a story. The viewer may develop their own story as the painting triggers emotions, memories or ideas. Here are a few of my stories that describe my motivation or inspiration behind the painting.
